Richards Bus Lines has served the transportation
needs of Shenandoah Valley and Northern Virginia
since 1944. Started as a shuttle, transporting
workers, three times daily, from Luray and Page
County to the now closed Viscose Plant in Front
Royal, Richards Bus Lines has progressed into a
full-service charter and tour company. |
 |
Eddie and Sandra Sours took over the company in 1978, from
Sandra’s father, and company founder, Marvin Richards.
Recognizing a need in the region for a full service charter
bus company, Eddie began providing limited charter bus
service, while still providing plant shuttles for all three
shifts at the Viscose plant.
From the very beginning, Eddie took pride in providing
personalized service on clean, well-maintained coaches. In
those years, he drove many of the charters, maintained the
buses, cleaned the buses, and drove the shuttles to Front
Royal for all three shifts. |

In
the next decade, the charter
business grew, and Eddie continued to improve his fleet of
buses,
while at the same time the Viscose plant reduced production
until it finally closed in 1989. By the time the plant
closed, Richards Bus Lines had expanded and the emphasis of
the company had shifted to tours and charter service, rather
than the three-times-daily plant shuttles, Richards Bus
Lines was running tours and charters all over the United
States, in a fleet of a dozen modern motorcoaches.
